Mucho Soul

Mucho Soul began life back in the Spring of 2001 as a monthly club night in Soho, London. The brainchild of long time muso’s Alan Kenny Arscott (DJ A.K.A) and Ket Shah, Mucho Soul initially set out to encompass all manner of music with the emphasis on Soul, to a discerning and appreciative Saturday night crowd. Their soulful concept soon developed to include a more varied and eclectic array of black influenced dance music from Jazz, Disco, Reggae, Funk, and House to the very best in Nu Electronica.

Since those early heady days at the turn of the new millennium, Mucho Soul have gone on to appear and guest at various high profile events including: the Inspiracion Festival 2009 alongside Gilles Peterson, Rainer Truby and Simbad, The Sunsplash 2010 Festival in Antalyar Turkey with Norman Jay, Phil Asher and Jamie Liddell and The Southport Weekender 50th Anniversary in May 2014 with Chaka Khan, Archie Bell & The Drells, Carl Cox and Kerri Chandler.

In 2014 Mucho Soul were regular guests at the Deep Into Soul Terrace Parties with DJ Spinna, Paul Trouble Anderson and Rhemi as well as The Native Soul Parties with Deep House heroes Osunlade and Culoe De Song. Later that same Summer Ket and Al were behind a series of “Soul On The South Bank” specials which featured live sessions from Nathan Haines, Vanessa Freeman and DaLata alongside guest DJ sets from Dr Bob Jones and Patrick Forge.

2015 was an even bigger year for Mucho Soul as they took their sound to the Latitude 10th Anniversary Festival curating the ‘In The Woods Stage’ featuring Ashley Beedle, Abi Clarke and The Size Doesn’t Matter Crew whilst also gracing The Southern Soul Festival in Montengro on the Beach Stage alongside Ron Trent, Gilles Peterson, Jarrod Lawson and Matthew Halsall.

In recent years Mucho Soul have featured at the Wilderness Festival in Oxford where they entertained the masses with a special Latin infused mix on the Jose Cuervo Tequila Town stage plus a second appearance at The Southern Soul Festival on the Organic Stage and an appearances at Standon Calling.

D.J A.K.A (Alan Kenny Arscott) & Ket Shah have over 40 years of DJ-ing experience between them as they continue to deliver soulful music of the highest quality, happily merging styles from long lost forgotten Jazz gems to fresh off the press, sought after Soul and in demand up-front musical weapons to take their listeners on a twisting, turning adventure in sound.
